"Awareness leads to appreciation and then actions to help the environment" is the main goal of the environmental education program. Programs are offered on a donation basis and are presented to the general public, preschoolers, schools, scouts, churches, senior citizen groups, special education populations and other groups. A wide range of programs are offered including "Tickly & Prickly" for youngsters, "Ways of Wildlife" for older students, public events such as the Spring and Fall Nature Faires, summer wildlife day camps, teacher workshops in cooperation with the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 in addition to nature center development. The Conservation District cooperates with other agencies including the Schuylkill County Sportsmen's Association, DCNR-Bureau of Forestry, PA Game Commission, PA Fish and Boat Commission, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Penn State Cooperative Extension-Schuylkill County. The Conservation District provides programs at the Bear Creek Environmental Area based in the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds in Summit Station. The site features a trail system and its Dr. James S. Shadle Nature Center, which is a nature center wildlife museum.
